Carpool Permits

Thank you for inquiring into CSU, Chico Carpool Parking.  We appreciate your interest in alternative transportation and helping reduce the number of vehicles on the CSU, Chico campus.

Approval of a carpool application allows you the use one of the designated carpool space located on the first floor of the parking structure at W. 2nd Street and Cherry Street. Carpool spaces are limited. Parking is based on a first come first served basis. Carpool permits do not guarantee parking.

Certain restrictions and guidelines apply to the use of carpool parking. In order to qualify for a carpool permit, applicants must meet certain criteria. This includes:

  • Student applicants in a carpool group must have similar class times and days. Each student applicant must attach a class schedule with full name on the class schedule.
  • Carpool privileges are not available to Chico residents and applicants in a carpool group must live within a reasonable distance to one another.
  • A registered carpool group must consist of at least two CSU, Chico student and/or employees sharing one car AT ALL TIMES. There can be as many as four applicants per group on an application form.
  • At least one applicant must possess a valid semester permit. This can be obtained at http://www.csuchico.edu/sfin/parking/index.shtml

If approved for a carpool permit, permit holders are required to follow rules regarding carpool stalls.

  • If there is only a single occupant in a vehicle, that vehicle does NOT qualify to park in a carpool space even with the valid carpool pass.
  • The carpool permit and a current semester parking permit must be displayed. The carpool permit is only valid in designated carpool spaces.
  • Carpool permit must be displayed face up with ALL of the carpool permit information must be clearly visible including all vehicle license plate numbers.
  • Only one carpool permit will be issued per carpool group.
  • Applicants cannot belong to multiple carpool groups.
  • Carpool permits are not to be used by persons/vehicles other than those approved on the carpool application and displayed on the carpool permit.
  • Carpool permits may not be reproduced, transferred, or altered. Carpool permits are void if altered and will result in a citation per CSUCC1.4.21.
  • Misuse of carpool permit by any member of the carpool group, may cause permit to be revoked for all members listed.

If you are interested in applying for a carpool permit, fill out the application below. Each applicant must be on the same form and all student applicants must have a current class schedule attached to the application.
