Parking Decals

Student Financial Services coordinates and facilitates the sale of parking decals.  The sale of parking decals usually takes place in the week prior to the start of the semester and decals are sold on a first-come-first-serve basis. Due to the limited availability of parkig on campus, parking decals sell out quickly. For the specific date, time, and location of decal sales, refer to the Student Financial Services website at: www.csuchico.edu/sfin.

Decal Display
All decals must be clearly visible from the outside of the vehicle.

All decals must be affixed to the right side of the rear window or rear bumper of cars and trucks, affixed to a decal displayer, suspended from the rearview mirror facing the rear of the vehicle, or taped to the inside of the rear window in such a manner that causes the face of the permit to be fully visible from the outside of the vehicle. Vehicles with louvered or tinted windows must display parking decals on decal displayers, or on the outside of the vehicle, as described.

Motorized two-wheeled vehicles, including motorcycles, scooters, and motorized bicycles must clearly display the decal. These vehicles may only be parked in marked motorcycle parking spaces.

University Village Residents: Residents of University Village must clearly display in their vehicle a University Village parking permit. These permits are only valid for parking at University Village .

Parking Permit Display
Permits purchased from the parking permit dispenser machines, and  all other "non-decal" type parking permits, must be displayed on the dashboard of the vehicle, face up, with the expiration date and time fully visible, and in such a way as to not obstruct the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Parking Decals and Parking Permits displayed improperly will not be considered valid and are subject to citation.

Decal Types and Lots Available

"G" (General) Decals:  May park in any available lot space not specifically designated for any other type of decal.

"F/S" (Faculty/Staff) Decals:  Green F/S decals are valid year-round; yellow F/S decals are valid only for the academic year.  These decals do not expire and do not require renewal. Parking is available in "F/S Only" and also any other available "G" space. 

"R" (Reserved) Decals: Green R decals are valid year-round; yellow R decals are valid only for the academic year. These decals do not expire and do not require renewal.  Parking is available in specifically designated reserved "R" spaces (R1 decal only in R1 space, R2 decal only in R2 space, etc), or in any other available "G" space.

"A" & "B" Decals: May only park in the designated A & B Resident Hall lots. 

Whitney Hall, Shasta Hall and Lassen Hall residents will only be allowed to purchase "A" decals, valid in the A parking lot. After 4:00 PM the decal is valid in all General parking areas.

Esken Hall, Mechoopda Hall and Konkow Hall will only be allowed to purchase "B" parking decals, valid in the B parking lot.  After 4:00 PM the decal is valid in all General parking areas

University Village Residents : Residents of University Village must display in their vehicle a University Village parking permit.

"M" (Motorcycle) Decals: May only park in the specially designated Motorcycle spaces.

Parking Lot maps are available at University Police in Yuba Hall.

Lost or Stolen Decals
To obtain a uthorization to replace stolen, lost or damaged parking decals, please visit the University Police Department.

Purchasing a Decal
Parking decals (A, B, G & M) may be purchased beginning the week preceding the start of classes.  They may only be purchased in person, not by mail. An exact date and location of sale is known about 2 weeks in advance. Call Student Financial Services at 898-5936 or University Police at 898-5555 for date and time decals may be purchased.  Decals will usually go on sale about 8:00 am on the date specified. It is best to be there as early as possible due to the limited supply of permits.  Expect long lines and a long wait.  The Decals are usually sold out within 2 days, so get there early.
