Event Parking

Sponsored and Special Event Parking

The goal is to provide the event guest with convenient and effective access to available campus parking areas. Parking is self sufficient in its operations and requires all users to pay to maintain the facilities and operations.  There is no free or complimentary parking on campus.

Sponsored passes or special event parking permits are not intended for use by students or employees of the University.

Sponsored” Daily Parking

Sponsored permits are valid for any “G” stall on campus.  Unless otherwise posted, sponsored permits are valid in any "G" stall from 7:30am-4:00pm. After 4:00pm the permit is valid in any parking stall on campus with the exception of on campus residential lots or those stalls posted for state or other campus vehicles only. Sponsored permits are also valid in any campus disabled stall when displayed with a valid DMV status.

Sponsored permits can be purchased in advance for $2.00 each by the host campus group. Sponsored permits are valid for one day only and all required information must be filled out by the host. It is also the host responsibility to distribute the permits to their guests.

Purchase of the permits can be coordinated through Student Financial Services in the Student Services Center room 230 or by calling 898-5936.

Sponsored daily permits are recommended but not restricted to events expecting 1-100 guests. If expecting 100 or more guests University Police should be contacted to coordinate a recommended parking lot/area and possibly Special Event parking.

Having an event parking permit does not guarantee parking will be available. It does not exempt guests from campus parking regulations. As with any parking violation a citation may be issued if a vehicle is found to be parked illegally.

Special Event” Parking

Special events could include but are not restricted to: conferences, career fairs, orientations, athletic events, special performances, etc. On the date of the event the guest would go to any campus parking permit dispenser and purchase a parking permit for a reduced event rate of $3.00.

It is suggested that parking accommodations for special events, expecting 100 or more guests, taking place on university-owned or leased property be requested through University Police Department Parking Services at least two (2) weeks prior to the event.

University Police may designate an event lot. Guests of the event would be directed to this lot first. However, since no parking spaces or lots would be reserved it is possible the event lot would be full. In that case event guests would be allowed to park in any “G” stall on campus. The temporary event permit is valid only on the dates indicated on the permit and is not reusable or transferable.

Special Event permits are valid in any "G" stall from 7:30am-4:00pm. After 4:00pm, unless otherwise posted, event permits are valid in any parking stall on campus with the exception of on campus residential lots or those stalls posted for state or other campus vehicles only.

Special Event permits are also valid in any campus disabled stall when displayed with a valid DMV status.

Suggestions

For the convenience of your guests please consider the following:

Clearly state parking instructions in any announcements, flyers, letters, etc. This should include:

  • Designated parking lot names and locations.  Include a campus map.
  • How much parking will cost. Dispenser permits are $1.00 per hour up to 4 hours, or $5.00 for the day.  Cash, coin and credit card (Visa/MasterCard) are accepted.
  • Suggest arriving early. Parking is limited and a parking space is not guaranteed.
  • Provide other options for parking such as parking meters.
  • By planning ahead and providing parking information to your guests, you will reduce the chances of your guest receiving a parking citation.

Restrictions

Event parking will not be accommodated on the same dates of the following events: Commencement, Spring and Fall move-in and move-out, campus holidays.

Requests for event parking does not guarantee approval.

Approval of event parking does not reserve a parking lot/stall or guarantee parking will be available for all guests of the event.
