Parking Rules

Parking permits are required:
Monday - Friday 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM

Vehicle Code Enforcement: 21113VC
California Vehicle Code provisions are enforced on the Chico State campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

Campus Parking lots are enforced Monday through Friday. Weekends and holidays excepted. Holidays are defined as those holidays that are observed by the University. Click here for a list of campus holidays.

Hourly/Daily Parking (Parking Lot Map)
Parking is available on the CSUC campus. Permits are required and can be purchased from various locations on campus: Normal Ave. Parking Lot, Parking Structure, Stadium Parking Lot

Hourly/Daily Rates : The cost is $1 per hour from 1-4 hours or $5 for all-day parking. With the purchase of an hourly/daily permit, parking is available on campus in any stall designated 'G' (general parking).

Handicapped Parking
Anyone wishing to use handicapped parking spaces on campus must:

  • Display a handicapped parking placard issued by DMV and
  • Display a CSU, Chico parking permit or hourly/daily permit

This applies to all persons -- faculty, staff, student, or visitor.

Temporary Disabled Parking
If you are a student, faculty, or staff member and have been temporarily injured, you may request a special disabled parking permit from Cashiering at 898-6347.

Carpool Parking
Due to the severely limited parking on campus, we encourage carpooling as alternative transportation.  Carpools receive preferential parking in the 1st floor of the campus Parking Structure .  If you plan on carpooling, a current CSU parking decal is required and you may apply for a carpool permit at the University Police Department.  Chico residents are not eligible for carpool permits.

Driving an Alternate Vehicle? (Students, Faculty & Staff Only)
If you are having to temporarily drive a vehicle other than the one which normally displays your parking decal it will be necessary to purchase a temporary day permit from one of the dispensers on campus. These permits are valid for “G” stalls only.

Forgot your Permit? (Students, Faculty and Staff)
If you forgot your parking permit, no matter what type you have, you will be required to purchase an hourly or daily permit to park on campus. These permits can be purchased from any of the dispensers located on campus. The permit must be displayed on the dash of the vehicle and is valid in any 'G' stall ONLY.

Requests for No Cites can not be accomodated.

Inner Campus Loading and Unloading
All persons wishing to drive inner campus and temporarily park their vehicle near campus buildings to load or unload heavy items, must first obtain permission from the University Police Department. Policies and procedures must be adhered to.

Bus Parking On Campus
Due to limited available parking on campus and the requirement to provide safe movement and parking of busses on the California State University, Chico campus, we have established parking policies and procedures for busses .

Use of Parking Facilities
