Late Saturday night, 1/30/16,  a female student was walking on Ivy Street between 3rd and 4th Streets when a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the roadway pulled up behind her. According to a Chico Police Department news release, as she continued walking, she was assaulted from behind by someone who grabbed her by the neck and torso. The assailant forced her into the back seat of a nearby white sedan, which was occupied by another male in the driver’s seat. As the assailant loosened his grip on the woman in order to get into the back seat, she was able to scream. This alerted a nearby male bystander who immediately came to her aid and pulled her out of the back seat of the car. The two suspects subsequently drove off.

The victim has received aid and the police are actively seeking the suspects involved. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Chico Police Department at 530-897-4900.
