| Did you know the University Police Department is open 24 hours per day?
Among the items we routinely take in as found are cell phones, wallets/purses, electronic equipment, Driver's licenses, and ATM cards. If your name or other form of ID is with the item, you can call 898-5555 24-hours per day. Police personnel make every attempt to notify owners of identifiable property.
Items having a high dollar value or money can only be retrieved by appointment, as they are kept in a high-security facility.
To retrieve keys, glasses, clothing items, notebooks/binders and other miscellaneous items, you will need to come to University Police at 2nd/Normal by the Box Office 24-hours a day. Due to the volume of these items, police personnel cannot tell you if we have these items over the phone.
State-issued keys that allow access to campus property are returned to the Key Shop at 898-6222.
If you have lost your Wildcat ID, you will need to contact Student ID Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm at 898-6119.
Other points on campus where property is frequently turned in as found include the Campus Info Booth at the BMU 898-4636 and the Main Circulation Desk at the Library 898-6501; however, it is eventually turned in to University Police by the staff members at these two locations.
All found property is to be turned into Law Enforcement, and it is a violation of section 485 of the California Penal Code to keep found property that does not belong to you. There is usually a provision for you to claim found property you turn in after the require time period has lapsed and attempts have been made to return the property to its owner. |
