Based on the beloved book by Arnold Lobel and a hit on Broadway, A Year With Frog & Toad was nominated for three Tony Awards — including Best Musical. The story follows two great friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad, who learn important lessons about friendship as they proceed to work their way through the seasons of life, including planting gardens, swimming, raking leaves, and sledding. Timothy McDonald Returns to Chico

The performance of A Year With Frog & Toad on February 5th will mark the return visit of one time Chico musical theater aficionado, and current Chief Executive Office of iTheatrics in New York, Timothy McDonald.

In 1988 McDonald graduated from California State University, Chico, with a B.A. in music, but he says that he would most probably be remembered by Chico audiences for founding and running Chico City Light Opera.

Following his theatrical roots in Chico, McDonald moved on and founded iTheatrics, his current company. In his new home, as CEO of iTheatrics, he works to maintain his company’s title as one of the leading consultants in education and theatre. Some of his clients include Disney Theatricals and Broadway shows, such as Memphis and Finian's Rainbow.

McDonald will join this tour of the famous children's book set to song as it makes Chico one of its first performances of the tour. Including the Chico performance, the show will take its message of kindness and friendship all over the country to places such as Charleston, South Carolina and Dallas, Texas on the tour dates.

"The book series is so beloved; making the show was an ideal addition to the musical theatre cannon. In a world filled with gloom and doom, sarcasm, and irony, Frog and Toad is sweet and honest," said McDonald about why he chose to be a part of this adaptation. "It’s a show that's perfect for the entire family!"

When he visits Chico, McDonald wont be confined to the theater however as he has plans to make rounds in his old town. "I am planning on being on hand for the performances," said McDonald. "I'm also looking forward to seeing the music and theatre gang, drinking some Sierra Nevada from the source and eating at my favorite haunts."
