"Doc Watson is a mountain music patriarch and Appalachian music master." — The New York Times

Blending traditional Appalachian music with blues, country, gospel, and bluegrass, Doc Watson's unique style has awed listeners for nearly 50 years, earning him a National Medal of Arts, a National Heritage Fellowship, and five Grammy Awards. In this performance, he is joined by Grammy Award winner and four-time nominee David Holt, and Watson's grandson Richard Watson. In 2002 the senior Watson and Holt collaborated on a three-CD set entitled Legacy, which won the prestigious Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Music Recording.

Recipient of the National Medal of Arts, National Heritage Fellowship, and five Grammy Awards, Doc Watson is one of our nation's musical treasures. A powerful singer and influential picker, Doc virtually invented the art of playing mountain fiddle tunes on the flattop guitar. The Legacy CD set is a revealing and entertaining portrait of a man who, for more than half a century, has been a force in the creation, interpretation and preservation of American roots music.

Legacy
contains recorded conversations and interviews and songs, as well as a 72-page companion book filled with historical photos, stories and interviews from Doc Watson and his longtime friend and collaborator, David Holt. This CD, and this tour, is a tribute Doc's inspiring life story and generous musical legacy.
