"Sheer, out-of-the-box musicality . . . revealed the joys and complexities of free improvising." Los Angeles Times
This year, SFJAZZ Collective celebrates its 10th anniversary with a performance featuring its greatest work from the past decade. The program ranges from a fresh take on Horace Silver's classic "More Than Meets the Ear," to Coltrane's classic "Half Full," and a re-imagining of the Steve Wonder classic "Visions," as well as several of the Collective's own original compositions. This season's musicians include drummer Obed Calvaire, vibraphonist Warren Wolf, saxophonists Miguel Zenón and David Sánchez, trumpeter Avishai Cohen, trombonist Robin Eubanks, pianist Edward Simon, and bassist Matt Penman.
