"Steve Lopez's book makes you want to dust of your dreams . . . ." — Pittsburg Post Gazzet

Los Angeles' skid row, as Steve Lopez notes, is the homeless capital of the nation, and home of former Julliard School of Music musician Nathanial Ayers. Lopez's inspirational novel, The Soloist: A Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship and the Redemptive Power of Music, (now a major motion picture) focuses on friendship, second chances, the power of human connections, and the healing power of music and art. The Soloist is the Community Book In Common this year.

This lecture is partially sponsored by the Butte County Library and the Butte County Department of Behavioral Health.
