1. What are examples of employee development that is not supported by the USDP?
The following are examples of expenses that do not align with the guiding principles:
- membership fees or organization dues
- campus events scheduled outside normal work hours (8am-5pm, Monday-Friday);
- employee travel expenses
- mandatory training—trainings that meet externally-mandated skills; trainings to obtain abilities required for one's current job classification; courses required for licenses; competencies required to preserve safe working conditions; and expertise needed to forestall liability or other risk within the administrative unit.
