Exchange / Outlook
Microsoft Exchange E-mail. This is the primary E-mail account for faculty and staff that integrates electronic mail and scheduling. E-mail accounts have the ending of '@csuchico.edu'. There is a client for Windows 2000/XP and Mac OS 9 called Outlook, and for Macintosh OSX called Entourage. In addition, you can access your Exchange mail from any location via Outlook Web Access (OWA)
To get an Exchange account created, you must turn in your signed contract to HR and be entered into PeopleSoft by your department. Then contact the Help Desk at 898-6000 or submit a Web Request to create the account.
Your Exchange account will become 'locked' if there are several bad password attempts in a row. If this happens, call the help Desk at 898-6000 and our staff can unlock your account.
In accordance with campus password policy, Exchange password expire every 6 months. You will receive an email notification when your password is about to expire. You can change your password at https://silk.csuchico.edu/iisadmpwd/aexp2b.htr
If your password has already expired, you will need to contact the Help Desk at 898-6000 to have your password reset, before you can change it.Chico Domain
A domain account grants you access to different domain resources such as file shares and printers. This account is created automatically created when you have an exchange account created. If someone need access to Chico Domain resources, but does not wish to have an Exchange E-mail account, a Domain only account can be created. Contact the Help Desk at 898-6000 or submit a Web Request for assistance.
Wildcat
Wildcat is an account that is used for many different services on campus: Wildcat E-mail, Web, Portal , Modem and Admin Billing
The Wildcat E-mail system is primarily used by Students, but is also available to faculty and staff. Wildcat E-mail addresses end with '@mail.csuchico.edu. You can access your Wildcat E-mail account online at - https://mail.csuchico.edu/
To initialize your Wildcat account go here (this is the same as initializing your Portal account)- https://directory.csuchico.edu/account.init.new/
To reset your Wildcat password go to the following web site - https://directory.csuchico.edu/PasswordChange/

Portal
The Chico State Connection portal provides students, faculty, and staff with convenient online services. This personalized secure site allows you to access e-mail, add and drop classes, print unofficial transcripts, and more.

Web Publishing
To publish o departmental web site or to edit an existing departmental web site, you will need to do the following:
- Initialize you Wildcat account if you haven't already:
- fill out the Web Contributor form. This process usually takes 24 hours to be processed.
- Get permission to edit the site from a supervisor in e-mail form.
Departmental web pages are usually located at http://www.csuchico.edu/'dept abbreviation'
Departmental web pages are (generally) set up in location (/m3/webdocs/"dept
abbreviation") on hyperion.csuchico.edu.

To publish a personal web site, you will need to do the following:
- Go to the following web site and initialize your Wildcat account if you haven't already:

Personal web pages are (generally) set up in location (/m1/"userid"/public_html ) on hyperion.csuchico.edu.

Shell ID
Your Wildcat account contains a Wildcat/Portal ID and an abreviated ID used by the Unix web servers. Your Shell ID may be the same as your portal ID if your portal ID is 6 characters or less (example: Joe User may have the Wildcat/Portal ID 'juser'), or it may be an abreviated ID if you have a longer last name (example: Joe Longname may have the shell ID 'jl47'). If you are unshure of your Shell ID or have questions, contact the Help Desk at 898-6000 or submit a Web Request for assistance.
WebCT
WebCT is an online environment that facilitates the creation and administration of Web-based courses. It can be used to create entire online courses, or simply to supplement existing courses by including online exams, student progress tracking, surveys, access control, course calendar, live chat rooms or discussion as deemed appropriate by the instructor. You access WebCT inside the Chico State Connection Portal .
