Proofpoint SPAM Filtering

As of May 21st, 2007 the Proofpoint spam filtering system has been implimented on both Wildcat and Exchange systems as a supplement to the Spam Assassin (below). Proofpoint operates on the server level to quaranteen spam messages before they reach your account. A "Spam Digest" is sent to each account every day at 3:00 indicating messages that have been quarteened. More information can be found here.

If you are using Outlook Express, Netscape Mail, or Mac Mail, follow these instructions for configuring your e-mail client.

 

 

Spam Assassin

An older form of Junk E-mail management utilized on campus, Spam Assassin involves the creation of a rule that moves the SPAM messages into a junk folder using Outlook. Click on your version of Outlook below for instructions.
To find out what version of Outlook you have go to the "Help" menu while in Outlook and choose "About Microsoft Office Outlook." If you do not see your version listed below contact User Services at 898-6000 for further assistance.

Note: If you do not use any of the products listed above, you can stop by our office in Siskiyou Hall, room 109A and we will help you set up the SPAM filter using an alternate method.
