Arrange for Telephone or a phone line ?
If you need a telephone or a new phone number you should start by contacting your Faculty Secretary or AAS as there are usually some costs associated with telephone service. You should then contact the User Services Help Desk by calling x6000.
You can also initiate a request for service by filling in our on-line Help Request Form. If phone programming changes are needed, this can be easily done by using CSRV's Phone Programming Form to indicate changes. When you use either method to contact User Services, we will give you a Service Request tracking number. Please save the number, as you can use it at any time to follow-up on the progress of your service needs.
Get Voice Mail Services ?
If you need a Voice Mail box you should contact the User Services Help Desk by calling x6000.
You can also initiate a request for service by filling in our on-line Help Request Form or by using CSRV's Voicemail Programming Form. When you use either method to contact User Services, we will give you a Service Request tracking number. Please save the number, as you can use it at any time to follow-up on the progress of your service needs.

Get my Computer or Printer connected to the campus network ?
If you need a new network connection you should start by contacting your Faculty Secretary or AOA as there are usually some costs associated with installing network connections. You should then contact the User Services Help Desk by calling x6000.
You can also initiate a request for service by filling in our on-line Help Request Form. When you contact User Services we will give you a Service Request tracking number. Please save the number, as you can use it at any time to follow-up on the progress of your service needs.
Get a Faculty/Staff e-mail account ?
Chico State uses Microsoft Outlook as their electronic messaging system. We encourage every staff/faculty member to acquire a e-mail account.
User Services will need the information on your State ID card. Once contacted we will have your e-mail account ready within one working week. We can also arrange to make sure e-mail is properly set up on your office computer.
To get your account started please call the User Services Help Desk at extension x6000 or visit us in Siskiyou 109a.
If you are not familiar with Outlook, there are training workshops to teach you the features of the e-mail system.
Connect to the Campus Network from home ?
You can use Chico State as your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Dialing in to the university you can have access to your e-mail, and the internet. Contact CNS to sign up for Modem Service for a minimal monthly fee.
To activate your dial-in service, visit User Services in Sikiyou 109a or call x6000. A technician will set up your account and provide you with the information on how to get connected.
Register for a Computer Training class ?
User Services, in partnership with the Technology and Learning Program (TLP), offers a schedule of workshops on software and technology every month. To see the schedule or enroll in a workshop visit the IT Training web site.

Get my Computer or Telephone repaired ?
The only number you need to request service is 898-6000. One phone call will bring the full resources of User Services to your assistance.The Help Desk consultants will ask a series of questions to verify your location and the equipment involved. Although a small inconvenience, it is important to provide our technicians with up-to-date information in order to help you.

If we cannot resolve the situation over the phone, the appropriate field support team will be involved. Technicians will visit your office to diagnose and fix the problem When you contact User Services we will give you a Service Request tracking number. Please save the number, as you can use it at any time to follow-up on the progress of your service needs.
Move to another office ?
If you are planning to move to another office you should start by contacting you Faculty Secretary or AOA as there are usually many small details involved in moving offices. You should then contact the User Services Help Desk by calling x6000. We will gladly move your extension, voicemail, and activate network jacks. Also, we will hook-up your computer and establish a network connection for you as well.
When you contact User Services we will give you a Service Request tracking number. Please save the number, as you can use it at any time to follow-up on the progress of your service needs.
Make a web page ?
If you are interested in writing and publishing web pages on the campus web server you should start by filling in an application for a WWW Account. When the account is ready you will be contacted via e-mail.

Get Microsoft Software?
The CSU system provides licensed versions of selected Microsoft software titles for home and office use by state employed Faculty and Staff. See http://www.csuchico.edu/usrv/software/mslicensing.shtml
This software includes the Microsoft operating system and the most popular productivity programs (such as Word and Excel) If your do not have these programs installed in your office, contact the Help Desk at x6000. If you would like software not covered by the agreement we can advise you how to get it.
If you would like Microsoft software for your home computer you can acquire it from the AS ComputerWorks, located in the Memorial Union Bookstore.

Update my dial-up password in Windows?
If you have changed your dial-up password manually, have authenticated to the Campus Portal, or changed your Exchange password, you will likely need to update your password in your dial-up settings at home. Click here for more information.
