How to determine processor speed, installed memory, and hard drive size (Mac OSX)

For processor speed and installed memory:

Click on the Apple logo in the upper left hand corner of the screen, and then click the “About this Mac” menu option.

The “About this Mac” info window will contain the processor speed (in GHz) and the processor series (G4, G5).  Additionally, it will list the amount of memory (or RAM) installed.  In this example, the computer has a 1GHz G4 processor, with 512 MB of memory.

For hard drive total size and available space:

Two button mouse – Right click on “Mac HD” icon on desktop.
Single button mouse - Hold down the “Control” key and click on “Mac HD” icon on desktop.

Click the “Get Info” option.

The “Mac HD Info” window will list the capacity (or total size) of the drive, and the available (or free) space on the drive.
