Setting up new voicemail

To call VoiceMail from your work desk dial x4400
To call VoiceMail from off campus dial 898-4400
Passcode is 7890 (This is temporary and you will change it to a more private passcode when you go through the tutorial. Passcode length is 4-10 digits.)
Tutorial is set up for you the first time you log into your new mailbox.
- It will guide you through creating your mailbox, your personal passcode, greeting for your callers, and your name (this will announce your name when you have left a message in another mailbox).
- **Note** If you hang up at anytime during the tutorial, the tutorial will repeat the next time you log into your mailbox.
- You must press "X" to exit the tutorial to set up completely.

Your Non-Shared Mailbox Number is your 7 digit phone number, 898-xxxx

To set up VoiceMail for a Non Shared box:

Dial 4400
Enter the temporary passcode of 7890.

The tutorial will walk you through the set up (be ready to enter a new passcode and the greeting you want your callers to hear)
Be sure to finish the tutorial by pressing the 9 key ("X" to exit) or the tutorial will repeat the next time you log into your mailbox.

Your Shared Mailbox Number is a 6 digit number.

This 6-digit mail box number usually begins with "1,"
then your 4 digit extension,
followed by "1,"or "2,"or "3," etc., depending on how many individuals are sharing the mailbox.
For example, two people are sharing a mailbox on x4123. Their mailbox numbers would be 141231 and 141232.
**Note** This 6 digit number standard will apply if you have 9 boxes or less under the parent box.

To set up VoiceMail for a Shared box:

Dial 4400
When VoiceMail answers, "to retrieve messages for," you will enter your box number (1) or (2) or (3) etc. (If youíre unsure of your box number check with your dept. secretary)
Enter the temporary passcode of 7890.
The tutorial will walk you through the set up be ready to enter a new passcode and the greeting you want your callers to hear).
Be sure to finish the tutorial by pressing the 9 key ("X" to exit) or the tutorial will repeat the next time you log into your mailbox.

Accessing VoiceMail

From your work desk for a Non-Shared VoiceMail box:

Dial 4400
Enter your passcode

From your work desk for a Shared VoiceMail box:

Dial 4400
When the VoiceMail prompts you to "retrieve messages for," enter your box number, e.g., 1, or 2, or 3.
Enter your passcode

**Note** When listening to messages you can:

Hit the * key to rewind. Each time you hit the * key it will rewind 5 seconds of the message.
Hit the # key to forward. Each time you hit the # key it will advance 5 seconds of the message.
Hit the 1 key. This will pause for 30 seconds. You can hit any key to begin the message again.
Hit the 8 key to skip to the next message.
Hit 8 * to go back to the beginning of the previous message.

To access your VoiceMail from off campus

Non-Shared

Dial 898-4400
When VoiceMail answers, enter your mailbox number 898xxxx,* , (xxxx= your extension number)
Don't forget the * key after your mailbox number,
then enter your passcode

Shared

Dial 898-4400
When VoiceMail answers, enter your mailbox number
1(extension number)(x),* , (e.g., 14123(1) for box 1 or 14123(2) for box 2 etc.
Don't forget the * key after your mailbox number,
then enter your passcode.

Access your VoiceMail from someone else's desk

Non-Shared

Dial 4400
Enter *
Wait for the "Welcome message," then enter your mailbox number 898xxxx (* )
Enter your passcode

Shared

Enter 4400
Enter *
Wait for the "Welcome message" Enter 1xxxx(2)(* ) whatever your shared box number is
Enter your passcode

To change your Greeting, Passcode or Name

For a Non-Shared Mailbox

Dial 4400
When you get into your VoiceMail, select "U "for user options
(the 8 key) this will guide you through the change options.

For a Parent Mailbox of a Shared extension

Dial 4400
When you hear "to retrieve messages for" press the * key
Enter the passcode for the Parent box
Select "U" for user options (the 8 key). This will guide you through the change options.

To Answer, Delete, Save or Give A Message to another VoiceMail

After you have listened to the message, you have choices to Answer, Delete, Save, or Give (forward) a Message to another individual. Follow the VoiceMail instructions.

**Note** To Answer a message in a non-shared mailbox, press the "A" (2) key. You will not be able to answer a message in a shared mailbox.
When you Delete a message it is gone but it is retrievable if you hit the * key immediately. It isNot retrievable if you exit your mailbox.
When you Save a message it will only be saved for 10 days.
When you Give (forward) a Message it will keep a copy of that message in your Mailbox as well as forwarding it.

After you have left a message you can:

(A)ppend, (D)elete, (R)eview, or mark your message (U)rgent
If you decide you donít want to leave a message--press * then hang up.
If you want to bypass someoneís greeting and get right to the beep, press the 1 key and start your message.
