Software Support

Microsoft Office 2007

General information regarding the latest Office suite and when to expect campus support

Blackboard (WebCT) Vista

Support information and tutorials for Blackboard (WebCT) Vista.

Supported Software

Software on this list is recommended by the User Services department. We will install, troubleshoot, and provide generalized instruction on use of supported software, and do our best to assist with all the others
on the list as well.

Software Purchasing Recommendations

User Services recognizes the need to procure hardware and software that is supported on a limited or time and materials basis. While we may charge time and materials for support of some of these products, we have had experience with them, and hence we strongly encourage departments purchase from this list.

Software Purchase/License Agreements

The CSU has several system-wide agreements in place that allow faculty and staff, and in some cases auxiliary organizations, the opportunity to obtain software at discounted prices.

Software Tutorials

A collection of how-to documents relating to computer software issues.

Support Guidelines

User Services provides two main types of hardware and software support to the CSU Chico community: help desk support and field service support. Contacts to the Help Desk are FREE for all departments, retirees, and guests, however phone and walk-in support are limited in scope and duration.

Two patches were recently released to fix vulnerabilities in RealPlayer and Adobe Reader, which are programs commonly used on campus desktop computers. We are unable to update these programs remotely, so individual users must update their own computer. It is highly recommended that you patch your machine immediately. These vulnerabilities are currently being exploited in the wild and could very well affect you. More information and instructions here.
