Password Protecting a Zip File
PC - Win XP
Step 1: Right click on the folder you want to zip and encrypt, and scroll down the menu to the ‘send to’ tab. From the submenu that pops up, click on ‘Compressed (zipped) Folder’
Step 2: This action will create a new zipped folder containing everything from your original folder. This folder will appear on your desktop as (_old folder name_).zip and will look like this…
Step 3: Double click on the zipped folder to open it, once inside the folder click on ‘file’ in the top left corner of the window and select ‘Add a Password.’
Step 4: This will prompt you to create a password to encrypt the folder. Type and retype your password, click ok, and you’ve successfully created a secure zipped folder!
