Writing Tutors now available in the Student Learning Center (SLC).

The Writing Center, formerly housed in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, is now an integrated component of the Student Learning Center (located in the Student Services Center room 340). Students can begin to make appointments with writing tutors on Wednesday, September 3 by coming to the SLC. Appointments can only be made in person and will start on Monday, September 8. Please pass this information on to students, staff, and faculty in case they do not see this. We are adopting much of the same philosophy that has been used over the past few years:

What Writing Assistants Do

Aid in understanding and meeting writing assignments
Help plan and get started on writing
Talk about ideas and help develop them
Assist in setting and meeting priorities for revision
Teach students to control such surface features of writing as syntax, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
