What
We Do:
We
help you plan and get started on your writing. We aid in understanding and
responding to assignments. We talk with you about your ideas and help you
develop them. We assist you in developing proofreading and editing skills, and
help you to become a more effective writer in the long term.
What
You Can Expect:
You
can expect us to pay careful attention to your writing. We listen to your
concerns and respond to your ideas. We provide collaborative help with writing
problems and knowledgeable assistance in finding the resources you need to
complete your assignment. The OWC offers links to a variety of writing resources
on the Web, including sites for MLA and APA manuscript formats.
What
You Cannot Expect:
We do
not do your written work for you. We do not proofread or edit your paper for
you. Our goal is to teach you to do this yourself. We cannot guarantee a
perfect, error-free paper or a high grade. The OWC is an instructional facility,
staffed primarily by student volunteers, who are learning to teach writing; we
provide you with help in learning to write in specific contexts, but you are
responsible for doing the work necessary to complete your assignments.
How
to Participate:
Log into the
CSU, Chico Portal. There you will find the Online Writing Center under
"Student Resources" in any of your WebCT
courses. Just follow the instructions on our Homepage to make an appointment,
send a draft of your paper to a tutor, and meet live, on-line to chat about your
writing. |
