Assessment Plan
Fall 2007/Spring 2008: Writing
Review results from the spring 2007 assessment, discuss any needed changes, and create a plan to implement any needed changes. Collect the data needed to conduct an assessment of SLOs 3(a) & 3(b).
These outcomes state that:
- SLO3a. Students can write clear, concise, rhetorically effective, reasonably error-free prose for a variety of purposes and audiences.
- SLO3b. Students are able to draft and revise their own written work.
Fall 2008/Spring 2009: Analysis of Texts
Review results from the spring 2008 assessment, discuss any needed changes, and create a plan to implement any needed changes. Collect the data needed to conduct an assessment of SLOs 2(a) & 2(b).
These outcomes state that:
- SLO2a. Students can read and interpret a range of texts from American, British, and international cultures.
- SLO2b. Students can identify the changing contexts of writing in English, from medieval through contemporary times.
Fall 2009/Spring 2010: Experiences
Review results from the spring 2009 assessment, discuss any needed changes, and create a plan to implement any needed changes. Collect the data needed to conduct an assessment of SLO4:
This outcome states that:
- SLO4. Students take part in English-related activities offered outside of classroom contexts, including dramatic productions, public lectures, literary readings, and internships in community settings.
Fall 2010/Spring 2011: English Education
Review results from the spring 2010 assessment, discuss any needed changes, and create a plan to implement any needed changes. Collect the data needed to conduct an assessment of SLOs 5(a) & (b).
These outcomes state that:
- SLO5a. Students can demonstrates ways of adapting teaching strategies from courses they take to courses they will teach.
- SLO5b. Students show how to use the current California Content Standards for English when in developing classroom curriculum.
