The institution actively values and promotes scholarship, curricular and instructional innovation, and creative activity, as well as their dissemination at levels and of the kinds appropriate to the institution's purposes and character.

The CSU, Chico mission states

We support the exploration of the frontiers of knowledge, the integration of ideas, the connection of thought to action, and the aspiration of our students. We make the results of these efforts available for public scrutiny by all our constituents.
