The institution actively values and promotes scholarship, curricular and instructional innovation, and creative activity, as well as their dissemination at levels and of the kinds appropriate to the institution's purposes and character.
The CSU, Chico mission states
We affirm the importance of scholarship and its application. We support the exploration of the frontiers of knowledge, the integration of ideas, the connection of thought to action, and the aspiration of our students. We make the results of these efforts available for public scrutiny by all our constituents.

- Incentive Program: Encourages and rewards project directors and their administrative units for involvement in securing and conducting externally funded projects
