On occasion, process servers come to campus requesting records in the form of a subpoena. The office of Risk Managment has some helpful tips on how to handle these requests. November 2016.

Subpoenas are requests for the production of records or documents, or a request for personal appearance at a trial or hearing. If a process server comes to your office to serve a subpoena for records, please check the name of the entity listed as the Custodian of Records for the records being requested and direct the server to the correct location to serve the subpoena:

Addressed to/Campus Department/Location     

  • California State University, Chico (go to) Risk Management, Kendall Hall, Room 205
  • Associated Student of CSU, Chico (go to) Associated Students, Bell Memorial Union, Room 218
  • CSU, Chico Research Foundation (go to) Research Foundation, 25 Main Street, Room 203

Subpoenas requesting personal appearance at a trial or hearing should be referred to the University Police Department (go to) W. 2nd and Chestnut Street

Requests for Public Records should be directed to Risk Management, Kendall Hall, Room 205.
