Defensive Driver Training

The Office of Vehicle Reservations is now offering Defensive Driver Training (DDT) on a weekly basis for faculty, staff, and student employees. Courses will be 2 hours in length and will be held on various days and times to better meet the needs of the Campus Community’s diverse schedules. To view available times and register for the DDT training, please go to the EHS Web-Based Training System.

The CSU Vehicle Use Policy requires that employees complete a Defensive Driver Training (DDT) course every four years to drive a state vehicle or privately-owned vehicle on state business. Current employees who have completed this training on-campus in the past may receive a courtesy notice that it is time to repeat the training, but failure to receive such notice does not relieve the requirement to attend. Current employees can confirm date of last training by calling Vehicle Reservations at 898-6117.

You are encouraged to review The CSU Use of University and Private Vehicles Policy Guidelines and the CSU, Chico Supplement. Please note that the campus is required to obtain and review your driving record at least every four years. The review is done in conjunction with your training.

Driving Personal Vehicles on State Business

As a reminder, if you drive your personal vehicle on state business, you must pass Defensive Driver Training and complete an Authorization to Use Privately Owned Vehicles on State Business (STD. 261) form to be kept current within your department. Please contact Travel Accounting for more information.
