WASC Accreditation

WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) Accreditation

At the institutional level, CSU, Chico is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), one of six regional associations that accredit public and private schools, colleges, and universities in the United States.

Under the last WASC review process, CSU, Chico developed an Institutional Presentation composed of the materials of the three stages of review: the Proposal, the Capacity and Preparatory Review, and the Educational Effectiveness Review. Upon review of these materials and subsequent visits, the commission acted to reaffirm the accreditation of CSU, Chico in June 2009 for a period of ten years.

WASC’s redesigned Institutional Review Process (IRP) involves an Offsite Review by the evaluation team; and an Accreditation Visit to the institution by the same evaluation team. These steps are followed by a Commission decision on the institution’s reaffirmation of accreditation.

Chico is organizing its reaccreditation process around the refresh of its strategic plan. The return of Gayle E. Hutchinson as President in July of 2016 heralded in a new era for CSU, Chico. The reaccreditation process can now be leveraged to reenergize campus engagement with the issues of educational and institutional effectiveness.
