WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) Accreditation
What is WASC?
WASC is the acronym for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, one of six regional organizations that accredit public and private schools, colleges, and universities in the United States.
At the institutional level, CSU, Chico is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
CSU, Chico and the WASC Cycle
CSU, Chico was last accredited by WASC in June 2009. WASC reviewed materials provided by the university and acted to reaffirm the accreditation (PDF) of CSU, Chico in for a period of ten years.
WASC Institutional Review Process (IRP)
WASC’s current Institutional Review Process (IRP) involves an Offsite Review by the evaluation team; and an Accreditation Visit to the institution by the same evaluation team. These steps are followed by a Commission decision on the institution’s reaffirmation of accreditation.
Reaccreditation in 2019
Chico is organizing its reaccreditation process around the refresh of its strategic plan. The return of Gayle E. Hutchinson as President in July of 2016 heralded in a new era for CSU, Chico. The reaccreditation process is an opportunity to reenergize campus engagement with the issues of educational and institutional effectiveness.
