One thing consistently reported by Chico State students and alums is that our faculty are genuinely interested in getting to know them and want them to succeed. Aside from outstanding professional accomplishments in their fields (including Fulbright scholars, Guggenheim fellows, and NSF, NEH, and NEA grant recipients), our faculty strive to foster a lasting connection with students, to challenge them in their academic efforts, and to help them realize their full potential.

Our students beat top student teams from across the country

Chico computer science students won the 2010 Association for Computing Machinery Programming Contest, beating Stanford and 74 other universities. Our 2011 Model United Nations team was named Outstanding Delegation and won the award for Outstanding Position Papers, placing the team in the top 4% of all schools attending the competition. Chico students won top awards at the 2010 CSU Media Arts Festival for animation and video games.

Employers continue to heavily recruit our students. More than 440 employers came to hire our students in 2010-2011. community service always a priority...

Volunteerism and Community Service are priorities at Chico. Nearly 2,000 students from our nationally recognized Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE) average 60,000+ hours of community service annually. See the CAVE Web site for more examples of civic engagement at Chico State.

Best Colleges 2011…

Chico State ranked sixth among master’s level public universities in the western United States in the 2011 edition of “America’s Best Colleges” from U.S. News & World Report. Schools are ranked based on a number of factors, including average freshman retention rate, average graduation rate, class size, student/faculty ratio, and SAT/ACT scores of incoming freshmen. CSI: Chico?

with practicing forensic anthropologists...

Chico State is among a handful of universities in North America that have three practicing forensic anthropologists on its staff. Their expertise extends to work in Bosnia, Iraq, and the 9/11 attacks at the World Trade Center. Learn more about our Forensic Anthropology program.

Student Athletes

Excel in and outside of the classroom...

Each year our student-athletes rank at or near the top of the California Collegiate Athletic Association. In 2010-11, Chico was #1 in the CCAA! Since 1998, Chico State’s athletic teams have won 99 NCAA Championship berths, 40 CCAA titles, 24 West Region titles, and 15 National titles. See the Athletics website for more details.
