Wildcat Welcome is a celebration of YOUR new membership in the campus community. Mark your calendars and prepare to kick off your Chico experience with a variety of activities to suit your tastes.  Scroll down to see all your events and connection opportunities!

Monday-Wednesday, August 19th-21st

Residence Halls Open

housing Please consult your housing confirmation (sent in May) and/or assignment packet (sent in August) for your specific move-in date and time.  There will be lots of hall related activities and a movie night each night of move-in!  For more information, consult the resident advisor on your floor!

Get Your Wildcat ID Card

Time: 8am-5pm Place: Student Services Center 190
idcard Get your official CSU, Chico campus identification card – the Wildcat Card! Please bring an official form of photo ID (driver’s license, passport, or Military ID) with you.  The Wildcat Card office is open Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm.

Red Watch Band Team

(August 20th and 21st)

Time: 10:30AM-1PM, 7:30PM-10PM

Red Watch     At Chico State students are positive bystanders and get the knowledge and training they need to look out for their friends and peers by joining the Red Watch Band Team. The mission of the Red Watch Band Team is to provide campus community members with the knowledge, awareness, and skills to prevent student toxic drinking deaths and to promote a student culture of kindness, responsibility, compassion, and respect. This is a free two-hour training for all students, faculty and staff that will be offered every day of Wildcat Welcome Week. Locations to be determined, please call the Campus Alcohol and Drug Education Center (CADEC) at 530-898-6450 if you have any questions!

Thursday, August 22nd

Safe Place Workshops
(Mandatory for students living off-campus)

Time: 9:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, 5:00pm Place: Performing Arts Center (PAC) 134
safeplace All new students living in on-campus housing are already scheduled for this training through their hall association.  For students living off-campus, this is your opportunity for this mandatory training. Workshops will be held every two hours on August 22nd beginning at 9:00am. Failure to attend this training or make other arrangements will result in a hold on Spring registration. The Safe Place office can be reached at 530-898-3030.

Wildcat Transfer-Mation

Time: 10am-1pm Place: BMU Auditorium
transfer pic At the Wildcat Transfer-mation, you'll enter a transfer student and leave a Wildcat! This casual and fun event provides an opportunity to meet other incoming transfer students, current Chico State students, and University staff. Prize drawings will be held every half-hour... including $100 Wildcat Store gift cards. We'll provide snacks, music and optional activities for your enjoyment. Through "mini-presentations" and information tables, you will have the opportunity to learn about campus programs. We hope to see all new transfer students at the Wildcat Transfer-mation - the perfect beginning to an amazing, two-year, Chico experience!

Trip 'n Dip

Time: 12pm and 3pm Place: Meet at Sutter Courtyard

Adventure Outings invites you to your first upper park adventure!

Adventure Outings will be sending two vans of students to Upper Park for a short hike and a swim at Alligator Hole.  Each van can hold 33 participants, so get there early to secure a seat!  The first trip leaves at 12:00 and the second at 3:00 pm.

Win and Spin

Time: 12pm-6pm Place: Sutter Hall Courtyard

Win and Spin

Biking is not only sustainable, but it is a critical part of the college and Chico lifestyle.  Get tips on how to keep you and your ride safe while taking a short tour to One Mile swimming hole in Bidwell Park!  Guided trips leave every hour.  The Associated Students bike cart is even giving a few beautifully refurbished bikes away---you could win your way to a new, cool, recycled ride!

Rock The Block

Time: 6pm-10pm Place: Sutter Courtyard
transfer pic The Sutter Courtyard will come alive with interactive games, great food and live music!  The music kicks off at 6pm along with yard games and inflatables.  When the sun goes down - glow sticks will light up the night!  Come Rock the Block with us!

At 10pm the UHUB will be transformed into a dance club with a local DJ and black lights.  Stand out in your best neon or white attire.


Friday August 23rd

Official Wildcat Welcome Opening Ceremony

Time: 9:00am-9:45am Place: University Stadium
willie wildcat The Wildcat Student Welcome marks the formal beginning of your college experience at CSU, Chico. California State University, Chico President Paul Zingg & Associated Students President Taylor Herren welcome you to the University. You will be introduced to the unique features of the CSU, Chico campus and community and will also have the opportunity to connect with some of CSU, Chico's extracurricular activities. Your connection to the University and community is important to your educational experience.

Wildcat Welcome Parent Reception

Time: 9:00am-9:45am Place: Alumni Glen on campus
parent reception Parents, join us for the Wildcat Welcome Parent's Recpetion from 9am-11am in Alumni Glen while your student is at their welcome and mandatory department meeting. Hosted by the Chico State Parent Advisory Council, we invite you to meet with the University President Paul J. Zingg, vice presidents from student affairs, advancement, and academic affairs and with staff from many of our departments and colleges. The reception includes continental breakfast fare (including coffee) in one of our most beautiful campus locations along the creek.

Friday Night Concert #wildcatstyle

Time: 7pm Place: City Plaza Park
concert Say hello to your new downtown!  What a luxury to be within walking distance to campus for all kinds of retail and vendor services!  Enjoy a concert featuring local legends Swamp Zen in City Plaza along with complimentary dinner from any one of 20 local food vendors who will be dishing it up on site!  Prizes such as a Chico State Cruiser, music and food make this the "must attend" event of Wildcat Welcome!

Moon on Movie

Time: 10pm Place: Glenn Lawn
movie screen Keep it cool on the Glenn Hall lawn for a midnight movie showing on an outdoor screen.  Kick back with free popcorn to enjoy a first run flick!

Saturday, August 24th

Mandatory Faculty Mentor Meetings

Time: 9:30am-10:30am, 10:45am-11:45am or 1:15pm- 2:05pm Place: Various locations as assigned
I speak wildcat Meet with actual professors and students to get the low down on what life will be like managing your academic priorities.  Ask those last minute questions to get you ready for next week's classes and find out from actual students what you need to know to be successful right out of the gate.  Locations will vary and you will be assigned a time and location from the First Year Experinece Office.

Turnin' it up the Wildcat Way

Time: 10:30am-2:00pm Place: Trinity Commons, Rose Garden and area between Siskiyou and Glenn
turningup logo What will you do with your time outside of class?  How will you make a difference in the world?  How will you find other students who share your particular interests?  Chico State students are highly recruited in the job market, not just for their degree but for what they did OUTSIDE of the classroom.  On the same day you get the scoop on what's expected in class, grab a free bite to eat and find out how you can get involved after class at the Student Org open house. With over 240 student organizations on campus, you are sure to find the one that's right for you!

LeadCat

Time: 8am-4pm Place: BMU Auditorium
leadcat The LeadCat program was developed as a jumping off point, a place where you can meet other new students as well as current student leaders and supportive staff.  This is a full day of leadership activities where you will meet students involved in Community Service programs, Sustainability, Fraternities and  Sororities, University Housing, and Student Government to name just a few. Maybe you were active in leadership in high school, maybe you weren't, either way this program is for you! WREC Remix

Time: 9pm-Midnight Place: Wildcat Recreation Center
wrecremix logo DJ mix off and a groove infused back beat dominate a place normally reserved for personal headsets.  Come into the WREC and get your sweat on in a whole new way with a late night vibe, lazer show, and spin artists.  Sweet tunes and late night friendly snacks will keep you spinnin' till the midnight hour!

Be Chico - Day of Service

respect chico logo Chico State is a "Civic Engagement" leader and our students treat Chico like it is their hometown.  Join our incoming class and our student leadership in a partnership with Community Action Volunteers in Education and the Chico Chamber of Commerce in a joint cleanup effort of the downtown and campus neighborhoods.  Start your college career of right by helping us "Keep it Chico" and show that like us, you "Respect Chico"...after all, it is the Wildcat Way!
