From the Desk Of Coach Carnes 11/18/09
Dear Chico State Lacrosse Supporters; This is my last update of the 2009 Fall Ball Season. We had a terrific time playing UC Davis in Chico and running the Redding Youth Clinic. The players have completed their Fitness Testing and had their final Team Dinner of the year. Expectations are high for our 2010 Spring Season, even though we have gone from 25 players down to 17. Everyone seems excited. Our 2010 Spring Season will start with “Hell Week” on Tuesday, January 19th and run through Saturday, January 23rd. We will be practicing twice a day during this week. Our Freshmen Players will be staying with Veterans during this time due to the dorms being closed. Practices will be held from 10am to 12 noon and then 2pm to 4pm. The first practice will primarily be used for Physical Fitness. We need to begin to get into lacrosse shape. We will be working on improving our agility, speed, quickness, and endurance. Our second practice will be used to improve our lacrosse skills and understanding of our Chico State system of play. This will be the time that we begin working on our offense, defense, and transitioning. At the end of “Hell Week” we will have a Pasta Party to help boost team bonding and thank the powers to be that “Hell Week” is over. Beginning on Tuesday, January 26th we will begin our regular Season practices. They will be held Tuesday through Friday, throughout the Season, from 3pm to 5pm on Field 10B. We need to start to get ready for our first game against UC Davis on Saturday, February 6th . The game will be a home game and will start at 1pm in the Chico State Stadium. We hope you can join us and root our team on to victory. Prior to this game we are hoping to attend the Cal Play Day in Berkeley on Sunday, January 30th. For those that cannot join us for either our home opener or the Cal Play day, please check our schedule and make plans to support our efforts this year when possible. It means the world to our players when our Chico State Fans out number our opponent’s supporters. I, like many of the players, will be going home for the holidays. This will be my last update until I return in January. However, if you have any questions, concerns, and/or ideas please do not hesitate to contact me at gcarnes@csuchico.edu. Thank you and have a great Holiday Season...Coach Carnes! GO WILDCATS!
PS. I would like to thank all of you who supported our team during the 2009 Fall Ball Season with your attendance at our activities and sporting events. You are the Best!
