| Father Albert Braun, a Catholic priest,
worked at Mescalero in the 1920s-40s. The design of this mini- Gothic
cathedral was his. It was built largely with Inidan labor and is a landmark on the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation today. It is just south of Highway 70 in Agency, the administrative center of the reservation. Reverent visitors are welcome. Inside are features that, while certainly Catholic, speak to a blending of nativist religion with Catholicism. |
