Background


Cris Guenter, Ed.D., Graduate Programs Coordinator & Professor of Education, specializes in teaching that focuses upon arts education, computer graphics and technology in education, creativity across the curriculum, and interdisciplinary education. Her research interests include technology's intersection with the arts, the creative process, assessment and electronic portfolios, and effective online rural/distance education. She teaches credential and graduate level courses in the arts, technology, and curriculum development.

She is both artist and educator. Her paintings and photographs have been exhibited in several national juried exhibitions. Dr. Guenter was named CSU, Chico's Outstanding Teacher for the year 2000. In 2001 she was recognized as California's Outstanding Visual Arts Educator by the California Art Education Association. Most recently, Dr. Guenter was named the 2008 National Art Educator of the Year by the National Art Education Association.
