Cris Guenter, Ed.D., Professor of Education, specializes in teaching that focuses on arts education, art and technology in education, creativity across the curriculum, and interdisciplinary education. Her research interests include technology's intersection with the arts, the creative process, assessment and electronic portfolios, and innovative online rural/distance education. She teaches credential and graduate level courses in the arts, technology, and curriculum development.
She is both artist and educator. Her paintings and photographs have been exhibited in several national juried exhibitions. Dr. Guenter was CSU, Chico's Outstanding Teacher in 2000, California's Outstanding Visual Arts Educator in 2001, and the 2008 National Art Educator. She has received the CSU Chico Professional Achievement Award in 1996 and 2010. Her work with online instruction and MERLOT has been recognized at the national and international levels. She currently serves as chair of CSU, Chico's Univeristy Technology Advisory Committee (UTAC). She is Vice President Elect for the Pacific Region of the National Art Education Association.
