men and women captured will be forwarded later. The Sacred Jewel has been
recovered but the Sacred Sword has been lost. It is our intention to retrieve
it.
This record was read by the secretary Fuijiwara Kunimichi, seated before
His Lordship. In attendance on the stone pavement during the reading of
the record were the governor of Inaba Toshikane and Chikuzen Saburo. When
the reading was over His Lordship personally rolled up the scroll and,
holding it in his hands, made obeisance toward Tsunigaoka Shrine, though
unable to utter a word.
At the conclusion of the ceremony of the raising of the pillar's and
the beams His Lordship presented emoluments to the carpenters, and returned
to the headquarters. Then he summoned the messenger who had brought the
record and inquired of him the details of the battles.
