How many cuisine that show above do you know
already? Probably, a few? That's good. Now, let's see what you've
got. As you may know, 4
is a bowl of cooked white rice and Japanese usually eat them at least a
day. Rice which is eaten in Japan is
very nice by itself (http://www.japan-rice.com/English.htm). Some people
say that the more you bite rice, the
more you'll feel tasty because it's deliciousness will increase. By the
way, do you see the difference between
4 and 8? 8 is called, "Ocha-zuke".
To make it, you should have about 3/4 cup of cooked rice, and a package
Ocha-zuke (a kind of stock) in the bowl,
and then pour hot green tea no it. It's a sort of lazy recipe. Also, when
you had a big dinner like a thin stake
or something early in the evening and you got hungry in midnight, you can
have it. People sometimes do that there!
You know 10? Yeah, it's "miso-soup". I'm sure you know 9, too.
It's "Sushi"! (http://www.ozemail.com.au/~ghostv/sushihome.html,
http://www.american.edu/academic.depts/sis/sfpages/projects/sushi/sushi1.htm,
http://www.sushi101.com/,

Then, do you know what's on the rice for each?
will be tuna,
is cuttlefish,
is shrimp and
is, let's say...Japanese omelet covered with seaweed. 5 is
called,
"ozouni." They eat it on the New
Year day. What's inside is mainly "mochi", which is rice cake and other
things like carrots, Shiitake, which
is Japanese mushrooms as you can see in the picture. The ingredient may
differ, depends on the families and the
regions. You might know 3. It's "Tempura. "The ingredient
could be various again. You can see 2 prawns
and perilla, right? They are deep-fried and they eat them with special
sauce. 7, 11and12 are little different from
Japanese traditional cuisine. They created various menus borrowing
ideas from other countries. 7 is called, "Omuraisu".
"Omu" is from omelet and "raisu" is rice. What's inside is fried rice with
ketchup. 11 is "Harumaki." It's spring
roll. It looks same as Chinese one, but the taste slightly differs from
it because it's Japanese style. It's still yummy!!!
12 is "Hanbahgu." It's hamburg steak. There are several kinds of
Hamburg steak such as, tofu, wahuu that means
Japanese style and kinoko that means a few kinds of Japanese mushroom.
6 is called "yaki-tori." (http://www.michaeltoshio.com/michael_toshio_cuisine.htm)
Yaki means grilled and tori means chicken. I would say...it's
a kind of Japanese style barbecue! In the picture, you see the combination
of "tori", which is chicken and Welsh
onion. It's the most famous one. You can get various kind of Yakitori in
Sake bars and on street stalls. 2 is "Makunouti-bentou."
It's a kind of lunch box. Some mothers wake
up early in the morning and cook one for their children or husbands. In
the picture, you can see cooked white rice with
black sesame and a pickled ume, fried shrimp, some vegetables and
Japanese omelet. 1 is "Takoyaki." (http://www.pref.osaka.jp/osaka-pref/intro/index.html)
It's a special product of Osaka, which is one of the biggest cities
in Japan. They say that every family in Osaka has at least one special
steal plate for takoyaki. Did you get
some ideas about Japanese cuisine other than Sushi??
Now, these are other fun sites!
