III. University & Community Service

Over 2004->2005, was a member of the following Department Committees: Graduate, Personnel, Search, and Student Outcome Assessment; also Minor Advisor in the Department of Anthropology. As indicated above, gave guest lectures for PHIL 108 as well as RECR 50 and RECR 198; also provided guest lectures for the Anthropology Forum (ANTH 297) and Graduate Semina (ANTH 300). I view myself as an active researcher-scholar-teacher who takes part in campus and community activities. In 2004-2005 I was, once again, a member of the Personnel Committee for the Department of Theatre Arts (College of Humanities and Fine Arts).

IV. Special Accomplishments & Other Activities Not Included Above

I quote from my Fifth Year Review by the Department of Anthropology (December 9, 2002):

"The fifth year review finds that Professor Urbanowicz is an instructor who is highly motivated to have his students learn as much about anthropology as possible and who truly enjoys teaching at the undergraduate level. He constantly revises his Guidebooks for the courses he regularly teaches and indeed, was recognized by the institution for his teaching capabilities when he was designated a 'Master Teacher' for the 1997-1999 academic years."

The Dean of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences concurred with the Fifth Year Anthropology Department Review and wrote (January 22, 2003) as follows: "Clearly, the last five years have marked a productive period in your career."

SInce August 1973 I have enjoyed being a member of the faculty of California State University, Chico and I decided to retire from the California State University system under the FERP [Faculty Early Retirement Program] options which were available in the 2004-2005 contract. I anticipate teaching every fall semester for the next five years. When I am not teaching I anticipate being a "destination lecturer" on various cruise ships (a function I performed in December 2004 and January 2005 as well as May/June 2005.) In May 2005 I was granted the status of "Emeritus Professor of Anthropology" by my colleagues in the Department of Anthropology at California State University, Chico.

I attest that the information provided in this report is accurate and true to the best of my knowledge. The web pages above (for the period of July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005) are available for review as indicated.
