TIPS FOR WRITING ESSAY EXAMS
- Read the question, what does it ask you to do; describe,
argue, list, outline, explain?
- Try to make one point for each "point".
- Use specialized vocabulary, if appropriate.
- Be concise and clear.
- Use an introduction sentence and a conclusion sentence.
- Balance all the questions.
- Do not use slang or conversational tone.
- Wherever opinion is given, be sure to give reasons for that
opinion.
- Refer to authors of assigned readings to demonstrate that
you are familiar with them.
- Write on one side of the page and be neat.
