After Dr. Yukitaka, chief priest of Tsubaki Grand Shrine and Mr. Yuji Inokuma attended preconguress of IARF in Europe, they came to the United States on March 29.
Both Rev. Tetsuji Ochiai and Rev. Yukihiko Tsumura flew to Seattle, Washington on March 30. And we met them in Seattle.
We visited to Kannagara shrine (branch of Tsubaki Grand Shrine) to meet Rev. Koichi Barrish (Aikido instructor, priest of Kannagara shrine). After that, we flew his friend's island(Knapp Island) to Canada for conduct Shinto ceremony (chinza-sai).
His friend's name is Mr. & Mrs. Evans. They have an Island to Canada. They built an Aikidojo (gymnasium for Aikido) whose name is Shin Mei dojo in their Island. And this time, they were enshrine Shrine in the garden. The shrine is named Shin Mei jinja. This shrine is branch of Kannagara jinja. A ceremony led by Dr. Yamamoto, Rev. Ochiai, Rev. Tsumura and Rev. Barrish, translated by Mr. Inokuma. Mrs. Ann Evans, three children and her friend attended.
The ceremony started at 1 p.m. with a purification ritual "syubatsu". Then the ritual of the divided spirit, Mitama (Sarutahiko-ohkami) of Tsubaki Grand Shrine (chinza-no-gi) was conducted by Dr. Yamamoto.
The priests dedicated food offerings to Kami, then Rev. Yamamoto recited a prayer, "Norito". The priest and participants dedicated branches of ever green, "Tamagushi", the offerings were removed from the shrine and the door was closed. The ceremony ended with a final bow to Kami. After the ceremony, Dr. Yamamoto greeted participants who then enjoyed the drink(sake) dedicated to the Kami.
