President's Educational Equity Scholarship

Emerging Professional

Barriers exist which impede the professional progress of many women of color in physical education. Acknowledging this reality, members of WSPECW have contributed to a fund to assist women of color in their professional development.

The President's Educational Equity Scholarship (PEES) was designed to recognize outstanding women of color pursuing graduate degrees in physical education. The scholarship is awarded each fall, and recipients are invited to the annual conference. Recipients receive a $500.00 scholarship, one year membership to WSPECW, and conference registration fee and board during their award year.

Scholarship Criteria:

Woman of color pursuing graduate work in the field of physical education.

Past record and future promise as a contributing professional in physical education.

Past record and future promise of benefiting her communities or society.

Need. (This award is intended in part to provide extra funds that will make a significant difference in completion of the graduate degree.).

Residence. (The recipient must be pursuing a degree at -- OR a prior degree must have been received from -- an institution within Western Society's region.).
