Professional Development Award

Emerging Professional

The Professional Development Award of $500.00 is given each year to a deserving active or temporary member of WSPECW to promote her professional work. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis.

Proposals may include, but are not limited to, requests to support:

The development of new, innovative teaching- or coaching-related materials.
Research projects.

Development of professionally-related computer software.

Attendance at a special workshop or symposium.

Proposals should include the following components:

Cover page listing the principal investigator's name, academic rank/status, and professional address. (Graduate students should also identify the major professor.)
A detailed description of the activity or project for which funding is being requested (not to exceed fire pages).

Proposed budget.

A description of in what specific way(s) the proposed activity or project will contribute to the professional development of the principle investigator (not to exceed two pages).

Identification of other available funding or requested funding of the project or activity.

Proposed timelines for the project or activity. (Normally, completion is expected to occur with in one year of notification of funding.)

One to three letters of support are optional, except that graduate students must include a letter of support from the major professor.

Curriculum vita of the principal investigator.

Proposal Deadline: September 30th of each year.

Notification of funding will be made following committee review of submitted proposals. Applicants whose activities or projects are funded will be encouraged to submit either a written final report or an abstract for oral presentation at the conference following completion of the project.
