Online Teaching Resources
While working for the Technology and Learning Program (2000 - 2003), I was immersed in the design and development of online courses for the California State University, Chico's distance learning programs as well as faculty tranining and support. The following resources were developed to assist faculty in designing and teaching online courses:
General
- Achieving e-Motivation Through Instructional
Design (Knolle, 2002 - in process)
- An approach for integrating Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction and Keller's ARCS model into the design of online course curriculum. The documentation is in initial stages and will be updated and revised based on discussion at the CATS 2002 conference.
- Online
Course Development Cycle for CSU, Chico Faculty (Knolle, 2001)
- A diagram of the process that faculty at CSU, Chico follow when developing and delivering an online course. The process outlines the type of support faculty receive at various stages of the development cycle.
- Online Course Design & Development Project
Plan (Knolle, 2001)
- A worksheet to assist in the planning and development of online curriculum and materials. The primary purpose of this worksheet is to help faculty and instructional designers organize content and monitor development progress. This project plan is used on the CSU, Chico campus for development of fully online courses.
- Good Online Instruction: A Self Assessment
for Online Instructors (Knolle, 2001)
- Based on Chickering and Gamson's Seven Principles for Best Practice in Undergraduate Education, this self-evaluation allows online instructors to assess their use of the technology available. Focuses on the use of WebCT and HorizonLive but is general enough to apply to other technologies.
