Grading Procedure and Policy: The course grade will be determined on the following basis:

There will be a total of 700 points possible which are distributed between the lecture and laboratory.

  • 71% lecture (500 points) and 29% laboratory (200 points)

Lecture Examinations: There will be three scheduled mid-term examinations (100 points each) and a comprehensive final (200 points). These examinations will be composed of both multiple choice (including short answer) and essay questions.

A) Multiple choice questions will have assigned point values.

B) Essay questions: The highest raw score on a particular essay will be assigned the total points and all other responses will be graded against that response.

Laboratory Scoring and Examinations: Laboratory exams will contributed 60%, Formal Laboratory Write-up will count 10%, Laboratory Notebook will be evaluated for 10%, Laboratory Assignments will be 10% and 10% for attendance and participation.

Make-Up Examinations: There will be no make-up exams except by prior arrangement.

Late Assignment: Assignments which are received after the due date will be penalized by one full grade per day late.
