EMERGENCE:

  • Hatch after development, go through 3-4 instars, pupate under water (Merritt and Cummins pg.245)
  • Pupae hang in the surface film by their respiratory horns (Thorp, 1991 pg.626)))

  • Eggs are laid either singly or in loose masses in or near the water
  • Attached to rocks or aquatic vegetation
