DESCRIPTION:

  • Chironomides are found in most types of water bodies including intertidal rock pools and coral reefs
  • Moist soils, phytotelmata, and dung
  • Streams, rivers, lakes, ponds
  • Larvae are found in rock, gravel, finer sediments, sand and silt

DISTRIBUTION:

  • Northern and Southern limits of land, dominant in Arctic
