HABITAT:

 

DESCRIPTION:

  • Moist terrestrial, (humus or soil)
  • They are found in margins and surface of fresh water ponds and streams
  • Some species are more specialized than others

DISTRIBUTION:

  • Widely distributed, well represented in temperate regions and tropics

  • Found in harsh climates such as: Antartica to the Arctic Islands

  • Some species are cosmopolitan, where as species found in Australia can be found in specialized environments (Williams, 1994, pg. 14)
