DESCRIPTION:

  • The larval habitat is in the regions of fast moving water of streams and river
  • In large lakes, they can be found in the littoral zone

DISTRIBUTION:

  • The simulidae family is widely distributed across all major land masses except Antartica

  • 11 genera and about 150 species in North America
