Collaborating Faculty Biosketches

 

 

Mark Tomita, PhD, CHES, is a health education professor at California State University, Chico, who specializes in the use of technology in public health. The North State Academic Press was started by him to engage his students in scholarly publishing in health education and health promotion.

 

Linda Bilsborough, M.H.S. is an instructor in the Department of Health and Community Services at California State University, Chico, who specializes in Human Sexuality, Personal Health and Wellness, and Health Education for Elementary School Teachers.

 

Jan Campbell is an instructor at California State University, Chico, who has 29 years of experience teaching a variety of health science courses including health for elementary school teachers and adolescent health for secondary teachers.

 

Julie Freelove-Charton, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of gerontology and health behavior in the Department of Health and Community Services at California State University, Chico. She has over ten years of experience in promoting health across the lifespan in community based settings. Her primary focus is on the prevention and management of age associated health conditions through positive lifestyle choices.

 

Pamela Johansen is an Associate  Professor in the School of Social Work. She has many years of direct practice as a licensed clinical social worker working with children and families. She has completed two research studies on parenting grandparents and kinship care.

 

Vincent Ornelas, MSW, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of social work, at California State University, Chico. Dr. Ornelas' interests include immigration, cross-cultural practice, social justice, Latinos, and policy practice. Since arriving in Chico, he has been involved in several social justice activities.

 

Vic Sbarbaro, EdD, CHES, is an instructor at California State University, Chico. He specializes in health education for elementary school teachers and multicultural education issues.

 

Jean Schuldberg, EdD, is an Associate Professor and Director of the Graduate Program (MSW) in the School of Social Work at California State University, Chico. She has extensive practice experience in the field of social work with an emphasis on hospice and medical care for older adults. Her teaching and research interests include multi-culturalism, gerontology, intergenerational trauma and genocide, and mental health.
