- Content
- The meaning of this work
encompases the concept of communication. There is a delicate balance between
listening and sharing. Knowing the differance between simply hearing and actually
listening is one essential tool to successfull comunication. In addition,
knowing when to share and when to listen increaces chances to productive communicating.
There are times when all of the sences are working to communicate and the
results are far from intentions. Thus all efforts seem as if they are being
caught up in a whirlpool, unalble to reset the balance.
- Context
- Influences on this work
are psycological studys of myself and my relationship with my fiance. We are
continually working to communicate with each other. The majority of the time
we are successfull. As our wedding day approaches, efforts can get mixed up
or misunderstood. At the same time we are making efforts to keep up communications
with ourselves and in tune with what is really important to us.
- Form
- The swirling effect from
the liquid tool gives the whirl pool or tunnel effect that results in a rotating
motion that the subjects are unable to contradict. The sphere illusion of
the communicating elements is just that, an illusion that the elements used
to communicate are a simple form.
- Technique
- The work is constructed
in MetaCreations Painter 5.0 with the use of brushes, liquid, and erraser.
Zooming in and out was essential to smooth details. Working with buildup and
cover created the depth of shadows and the bright highlights.
