English 102--Extra Credit Possibilities
If you're wondering if there's any way to raise your grade a bit in
class, there's some good news. If you want, you can do a little extra writing
to make up for low scores on responses, or the test, or ... Here's
how:

Read and write a response to The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the
book that's on the syllabus but that isn't scheduled anywhere for discussion.
If you bought the book, you might as well read it and get some bonus points!

Watch a movie aimed primarily at teens, and write a response to it that
examines the ways that the film deals with a specific idea or issue that
has also been raised by one of the texts that we have read in class. Be
sure to respond to both the book and the film to get credit for this!
Possible movies include The Breakfast Club or Carrie or Footloose
or Ten Things I Hate About You or American Pie or Kids
or Stand by Me or ...
