This report is an update of the 1995 and 1996 report on Intermittent Streams as Rearing Habitat for Sacramento River Chinook Salmon.
In 1996-97 we expanded our study of non-natal chinook rearing in small and intermittent Sacramento River tributaries to include streams from Chico to Keswick Dam. There were four main objectives :
- to determine which intermittent tributaries of the Sacramento River might be important for nonnatal rearing.
- to provide preliminary data on the density and condition of juveniles rearing in tributaries.
- to determine the spatial and temporal extent of nonnatal rearing in each tributary.
- to evaluate habitat quality and restoration needs of tributaries used for rearing.
