It was not until 1994 that a full range of hardhead sizes, similar to the population before treatment, was observed. Population redevelopment could have been a function of wetter winters providing better migration and spawning conditions for the hardhead or reducing the populations of smallmouth bass. 1998, subsequent to two years of winter scouring flows, had exceptional survival of young-of-the-year hardheads.
